The Pillars Legacy

About

In the expansive and meticulously controlled domed city of New Avalon, the past is preserved, curated, and disseminated by the powerful Zenith caste, who control the flow of knowledge and keep the city's history tightly bound to their will. Beneath them, the obedient lower castes consume this distorted history, shaping their lives according to the truths handed down to them, while remaining unaware of the deeper secrets buried beneath the surface. Avery Quinn, a 26-year-old Pillar and archivist within the prestigious New Avalon Historical Archives, has spent years walking the precarious line between curiosity and conformity. As an archivist, her job is to maintain the integrity of historical records, ensuring that only the approved narratives are accessible to the public. However, Avery has always felt a gnawing desire to seek out the untold stories—those that challenge the official version of events and hint at the hidden truths of the city's past.

But this desire to uncover the truth is not without its consequences. In a society where paranoia is ingrained, especially among those in her caste, the stakes are high. The fear of retribution from the Zenith caste, who use the ever loyal Vanguard monitor the Archives, looms over her every action. The risk of exposing forbidden knowledge is a threat that could end her career, her safety, or even her life. Avery has learned to suppress her instincts and keep her head down, silently denying the truth in order to preserve her own survival in a city where questioning authority is a dangerous game. Yet, as the weight of her hidden discoveries grows, so too does the tension between her need to uncover the truth and the overwhelming fear of what might happen if she does.

The natural state for those in Avery’s position is one of constant suspicion, a state of hyper-awareness where no one can be trusted and the past is as elusive as it is controlled. But as she becomes increasingly entangled in a web of secrets, Avery is faced with an inevitable choice: continue to live in the safety of ignorance and complacency, or risk everything to expose the truth, no matter the cost.
